HNFE Undergraduate Restrictions

Welcome to the website for the Department of Human Nutrition, Foods and Exercise (HNFE) of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS). HNFE was established in 1960 and is one of twelve academic departments in the College. We have 25 faculty, 12 staff, nearly 800 undergraduate students, and 45 graduate students. The ultimate mission of the department is to promote human health. This is done by integrating teaching, research, and extension programs on nutrition, foods, and exercise. HNFE offers an accredited dietetics internship program and administers the Virginia Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program. We hope you will explore these web pages and learn more about our department. Feel free to contact any of the persons listed herein to assist you further.

Thye Scholarship Information: We are trying to establish an Undergraduate Scholarship in honor of Dr. Thye as he retires January 2006. In order to endow a scholarship we need to raise $100,000. With over 2,400 alumni from HNFE we should be able to raise this if most participate. Please email Christina McIntyre, cmcintyre@vt.edu, for information.
